NEWS IN SS 2012

I was in London last week and I was so impressed by the way the guys were suited that I decided I’d take a look at Hackett’s latest drops for it is a reknown british house with a strong british identity. The suits themselves are great. Superb wool quality, very nice clim cut, awesome patterns etc… But I’m pretty intrigued with this lookbook for the upcoming SS 2012 collection. I feel like it’s very american in some ways and somehow outdated too. I mean fairisle ? Shawl collar cardigans ? Fortunately though, I digg the visible ankles, the white pants, the tassel loafers and the bucks. And the suits. What do you think ? Read the rest of this entry »

Once again this week, Phoebe Philo impressed us : throwing a wonderful (though really expensive – 1350€) touch of excentricity on the classic minimalist Celine SS2012 collection! Burberry Prorsum goes African Style for SS 2012: the entire line is available on their website! I tried on the eclectic blue print t shirt (above right) yesterday at Kabuki and just loved it (can’t afford a 300€ tee though…)! But the line is just a blast! Love the way they’ve integrated African traditional patterns in their designs… It even makes me think of Theophilus London retro style! Balenciaga SS 2012 Men line

It’s been a while we haven’t talk about Balenciaga. Indeed, we’ve been impressed by Balenciaga’s SS 2012 collection (see the pics attached) for men : from the fine leather pieces (notably the wonderful camel leather jacket above) to elegant and well cut blazers, reefer jackets and suits! The timeless red officer and the navy blue are still omnipresent: either you consider we’re on the military fashion trend or you think these colors have just become essential for brands like Balenciaga! After weeks of anticipation and so much mistery surrounding the show, Kanye West’s first ever womenswear collection finally debuted yesterday evening at Paris Fashion Week! I could not wait to see what Ye was able to give us, which models would be on the runway, who would be on the front row etc… There it is ! All unfolded to your eyes. “From layered white pantsuits to plunging exposed zipper bondage dresses to jaguar rhinestone encrusted jackets, Kanye’s spring 2012 “Dw” collection left no corner of womenswear unturned.” says the first critic. My first thought is that is profoundly inspired by Céline and that it’s not bad at all. Judge by yourself by looking to every single look in the photo gallery below!
