GUCCI SS 2011: GLAMOUR AND PRETTY ELEGANT!
Glamour but elegant, colored and sexy… Those are the best terms to describe the summer collection designed by Frida Giovanni for Gucci (ready-to-wear collection).
Inspired by the city of Marrakech and the late-seventies photographs of Guy Bourdin, David Bailey, and Chris von Wangenheim, her collection presents a large pannel of colors. To quote but one significant example, the silhouette that opened the show was actually a sort of melting-pot of an orange blazer, violet tube top, green pants, and gold python belt. Otherwise, the looks are original and inventive: a stylish overall and several adventurer looks with recherché safari and leather jackets.

SANDRO SS2011 MEN LOOKBOOK
I’m glad to see that Sandro continues its good work now that it is part of the LVMH group. Even if the men collection isn’t as wonderful as the women’s one, the result is still very enthusiastic ! I love the denim shirts and I’m especially happy because the jackets, tops and suits are longer than last season, except for the pants… but I do like to see the ankles above pretty tassel loafers. A lot of amazing pieces to see here ! Full lookbook hereafter. Read the rest of this entry »
GANT RUGGER SS 2011 LOOKBOOK
It’s been a long time since the last time I annoyed you with this preppy story! But this style has the particular advantage to be timeless or to be more precise to look like you’ve always dressed preppy and that you will dress this way forever. I am not a big big fan of what Gant proposes but there is a collection that deserves an appearance on this blog : the Gant Rugger line could be Gant’s funnier younger brother. Understand that it’s more youthful and casual, less country club, rather preppy American collegiate who wants to look more pulled together than their hooded sweatshirt and jean donning classmates. So what’s inside ? Read the rest of this entry »
