Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2013 RTW
“There can be something a little perverse about chastity,” said Tom Ford just before presenting the collection to a bunch of happy few. Tom Ford was even playing DJ himself with his phone while the models walked on a deep carpet in showroom space. Beneath the Single-manesque sixties hair came the chicest hoodies you’ll ever see, teamed with the tightest of maxi beaded skirts; glossy biker jackets, all collars upturned and layered, deep V jumpers in black and white. All in all, the show was always sexy and glamorous but I don’t know how a tat reto. The women’s ready to wear doesn’t have the men’s classic and out-of-time design… It is black, it is gold, silver, cobalt and nude. And it’s all after the break ! Read the rest of this entry »
10 Rules to Dress For A Cocktail Party
While trying to write down some pieces of advice on how to dress for a cocktail party, I came accross some little unicolor dresses from London label Issa. I believe they gather everything you should be looking for when dressing for a cocktail party (see below). Simple, almost understated, but terribly elegant and sexy, such dresses show how simple it is to dress up. The retro look is the only bold touch and the slim fit upper makes it really hot without looking provocative at all. Obviously, a little black dress would be a go-to staple but you might wanna wear something slightly less formal. In that case, which is for sure a little more hazardous, you’ll find hereunder some basic principles to bear in mind to dress for a cocktail party. Read the rest of this entry »

When Burberry Prorsum goes African style
Burberry Prorsum goes African Style for SS 2012: the entire line is available on their website! I tried on the eclectic blue print t shirt (above right) yesterday at Kabuki and just loved it (can’t afford a 300€ tee though…)! But the line is just a blast! Love the way they’ve integrated African traditional patterns in their designs… It even makes me think of Theophilus London retro style! Anyway, we made our own selection of Burberry Prorsum hot African shirts and tees (with price attached): check it out right after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
Introducing : CHUCS Dive & Mountain Shop
Last February, Charles Finch launched CHUCS DIVE & MOUNTAIN SHOP at 31 Dover St, London, bringing movie business pedigree and luxury savvy to his leisure wear. ‘Chucs’, a nickname for Charles he inherited from school, grew up in Jamaica and France and aims to add a touch of old world glamour, style and elegance to leisure wear. That’s precisely why I love the brand. It has the little something you only find in old pictures of the Kennedys. It’s retro but totally actual at the same time, mostly because of the extreme care to quality and detail. “Our hope is that we will make the best quality clothing for ladies and gentlemen who care for such things…that we do so with heart and spirit, and that our customers Live Well – Stand Tall – Give Freely – Explore Often.” says Charles Finch, creator of CHUCS Dive & Mountain Shop. Check out their tasty lookbook hereafter !
Thom Browne x DITA Eyewear Collection FW 2011
I presented Thom Browne in a style editorial a few weeks ago and I am pleased to announce you that the master strikes back with a collaboration with Dita to produce a set of retro glasses. Don’t expect too much classicism : the pieces are inspired by architects, politicians, studio artists, designers, professors and all types of influencers from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s then signed with the signature tri-color red, white and blue branding. This is not new that only Air Jordan sneakers are to be collected in the sneaker world. They have something special, a sort of special swag à la Prince of Bel Air ! Second addition to our sneaker porn section after the Air Jordan 5 is the Air Jordan 7 Retro in Orion Blue. Don’t be fooled, this colorway isn’t an actual retro edition, it is a whole new colorset offered to the sneaker addicts ! I hope the purists will pardon my heresy when I say that this White/Orion Blue-Black-Infrared model is really great ! Besides it is a model of choice for Pharrell. Read the rest of this entry »
The Air Jordan V : Sneaker Porn

You asked for some sneaker porn ? Here it is ! From all sport shoes, I’d say the Air Jordan 5 is the most iconic and looked after pair of shoes for more than 20 years. They are probably the most counterfeited too ! The Air Jordan V was first released in 1990 but some newly released limited editions make the happy days of sneaker freaks. So remember the year 1990 : Phil Jackson took over as head coach for the Chicago Bulls in the 89-90 season. This gave the Bull’s an extra boost and everything was flying. Jordan kept on playing his game and set a personal best when scoring 69 points in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. That’s history !
The design appeared to be revolutionary for a basketball shoe. A few elements were picked up from its predecessor, the Jordan IV model, but it featured an all-new reflex tounge and a see-through rubber sole which gave it a totally unique look. Also there were lacelocks which made it easy to strap them on. The legend says the design is inspired by the WW2 Mustang fighter plane and the most obvious elements that shows this are the shark teeth shapes on the midsole, which are the shoe’s signature.
The clear rubber sole has always upset collectors since it very easily turns yellow. Once it’s yellow there is no way to get it back to its original look. Seems the only way to save them is to store the shoes in a cool and dry place and never take them out of their box, which is quite paradoxical for such amazing sneakers. The shoes were retro’d in late 1999 meeting once again a great demand. Check out some models after the break ! Read the rest of this entry »
