Kitsuné is doing a lot right these days. Case in point is this reedition of their loafer with J.M. Weston. A two-tone calfskin moccasin in grey and sand, representing the purest American “college” spirit.
This particular model is actually re-edited after last summer’s success. So if you missed it last year, you can still rush as early as April 29th either at the Kitsuné store rue de Richelieu, Paris or at J.M. Weston (be careful : Champs-Élysées and Bon Marché shops only) for the parisian and surely in selected stores worldwide. www.jmweston-invite.com is said to have them on April 26th. The model is Weston’s classic loafer on the 180 last. While J.M. Weston traditionally mounts its moccasins using Goodyear stitching, this design uses Blake stitching for a more flexible, relaxed shoe. As Hypebeast points out, Kitsuné founders Masaya Kuroki and Gildas Loaëc both have a taste for the timeless “preppy” style and its use of luxurious materials to create meticulous detail. The inspiration therefore comes from 1950s photos of American high society and their classy timeless essentials. Wear sockless all summer.Read More
Make it pop ladies ! From the deep gorgeous red to the pale yellow, so-called go-to-hell pants definitely have to be in your summer rotation! But be careful : there is a major risk that you miss the shot. If you want to wear a bright pant, the rest of your outfit has to remain simple and not too eye-catching. That will make the difference. The inspiration rather comes from Mad Men than Gossip Girl. Actually, go-to-hell are born in the late 50s, a time when Catholics from the western world were proudly wearing the scarlet and purple. Such colors characterize the preppy look of the WASP. So you shouldn’t be afraid of beeing too preppy or too old-fashioned. Brooks Brothers and J. Press, founded in 1818 and 1902 respectively, have been the leading purveyors of the Ivy League Look for generations but you might still want something more modern. That’s why we are here : our selection is after the jump!Read More
It’s not the first time I introduce you to Ovadia and Sons, the NY-based brand lead by twins Ariel and Shimon Ovadia. In this FW2011 lookbook, I am very well surprised by the fact that they managed (again) to mix British, American and Italian influences like no other brand. The tailoring is particularly impressive and the numerous representations of double-monk shoes can’t make me happier. I dream my closet would be full of Ovadia and Sons ! I’d like to add that the patterns, while very classical, bring a lot to the looks. If someone wants to learn about real preppy, just check the looks hereunder : go-to-hell pants, wool patterned natural shouldered blazers, cuffed trousers, saddle shoes, etc…Read More
