NEWS IN Marc Jacobs
Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs at Musée des Arts Décoratifs
I’m just coming back from the Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The exhibition is not monumental and honestly I didn’t understand everything. I mean, the exhibition tends to separate Vuitton from Marc Jacobs and strictly differentiate their jobs. It’s more a parallel between the two geniuses of their generations that makes sense but I regret the lack of chronological references. Still, there are quite a lot of amazing trunks, bags and dresses that you should take a look at. And it’s free if you’re under 25. More pics after the gap ! Read the rest of this entry »

Why Mount street in London is so hot ?
The story of Mount Street:
During the last two years, this once deserted street of Mayfair, Mount Street, is now so prised that international brands struggle to have a store there! Why then ?
Pioneering in 2008, Marc Jacobs was the first brand to settle in the street (2 stores actually) among all the other traditional activities like butcher Allen of Mayfair. Daring bet! Since then, several other hot brands contacted the Grosvenor company to negociate a lease on the street (800 €/sq meter/year, a bargain in comparison with New bond street). To quote but few of them Louboutin, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Goyard or even Aesop . Consumers who already like these hot niche brands will definitely look for them coz they want to be trend-setters. I personally found out about this street because I have a Marc Jacobs tee with the address on it…You now have several good reasons to walk on Mount Street! New shopping hotspot of London!
Note: In 3 years, the part of Mount street between the Connaught hotel and park street saw its real estate renting price almost doubled!!
Photographer Juergen Teller | Portrait & Portfolio
Juergen Teller, the pioneer of trash retro-style photography ?
World-known photographer Juergen Teller (b. 1964, Erlangen, Germany) studied at the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt fur Photographie in Munich, Germany before moving to London in 1986. His work in influential international publications such as W Magazine, I-D and Purple nurtured his own photographic sensibility, which is marked by his refusal to separate the commercial fashion pictures and his most autobiographical un-commissioned work. Thus, his work is easily recognizable with his daring trash topics and style of shade of colors on each of his photographs…
As you can see below, Juergen Teller has been working with Marc Jacobs on his advertising campaigns for the past 11 years, the work has been collated into Marc Jacobs Advertising 1998 – 2009 published by Steidl. Juergen Teller has also had long collaborations with other designers and fashion houses over the years including Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood. You should also check out his last ad campaign for Céline on this post. Read the rest of this entry »
Marc Jacobs x New Era Caps Capsule Collection
Just when I decided to start sparing a little money for the coming summer hollidays, Marc Jacobs teams up with New Era Caps to create some amazing models in various shades of grey. Indeed, there are four different styles proposed: two MJ (for Marc Jacobs), one NEW YORK and one PARIS. One of the MJ and the NEW YORK model come in dark grey wool base with Black embroidery, while the PARIS” and the other MJ come in light grey wool base with a white embroidery. You can supposedly get them at any Marc Jacobs retail store or Marc by Marc Jacobs Store. I called the Parisian Store and they still haven’t recieved the caps so be patient… There is a small promo video after the break too ! Read the rest of this entry »
Marc Jacobs x K-Way “Claude” Jacket
Revisiting a classic rain jacket from 1965 isn’t an easy challenge but Marc Jacobs succeeded with this old-school “Claude” Jacket from K-Way, giving all the hype back to one of the most old-fashioned brand. Just check out their website and you’ll understand. Okay, Marc Jacobs didn’t add much to the jacket : the K-Way logo is surrounded by the name of American designer, and the color combination is new : a laminated melange cotton jersey, obviously fully waterproof and breathable. The marketing is quite surprising as you can see in the video hereunder. An extraterrestrial man wearing green Lycra rocking the jacket throughout the city of New York. Available at Marc Jacobs stores globally for 125$. Read the rest of this entry »
