During our trip in the US last month we had the chance to spend a night at the Petit Ermitage hotel in West Hollywood. With its rather secret and intimate atmosphere, this hotel has been our prefered stop during our one-month trip in America. It is relaxing, quiet, comfortable and has a unique, genuine identity with a very seducing art collection. A few minutes after checking in, we went upstairs to enjoy the rooftop pool with all the striped couches. It was so calm ! And pretty romantic too with a very hip playlist ! You can basically enjoy amazing cocktails under faux-fur blankets by the pool…

That alone would have set the bar pretty high ! We’ve been introduced to the cocktail master Brian who simply hit a homerun with his inspired drinks as we were just starting to eat dinner. A cheese platter, a Mediterranean platter and a bit of meat later, we were ready to go back to the pool with some more cocktails. Although the room was as pleasant as the rooftop (a big bed, sitting area, large TV, spacious floor to ceilling mosaic bathroom, plus a very well stocked mini-bar), we woke up early to get a brunch in the rooftop garden which is another preview of what the paradise looks like. Green, calm, peaceful, delicious. Plus the staff has been fantastic throughout our stay. A coup de coeur for us ! Check out our photos after the break !!

Located just next to the Los Angeles Supreme store on Fairfax Ave, TRAP House Clothing really caught our attention ! Trap House Clothing represents the life-style of trapping. “TRAP” is a reference to the many trap houses surrounding the area and would mean here “to rise above poverty”. Based on the fact that a big portion of America is caught up in the life of trapping for survival the guys created a brand that represents the struggle of poverty, and the bottom line comes down to…TRAPorDIE. They sell their own clothing line and also own a really cool barber shop on the front of the shop. We love the style and the place ! (store)

A short time ago, we introduced the opening of the OC store in London. No wonder then that we really wanted to visit their stores in the US. We had the chance to pop into the Opening Ceremony in Soho (NYC). To be quite honest, we were really disappointed by the overall arrangement of the store, the way high-end clothes were displayed: we actually felt like we were in the sort of frippery, except that the panel of clothes was really modern and sought-after…

Then, we decided to check out the Opening Ceremony flagship in LA (451 N. La Cienega Boulevard, West Hollywood). It turned out that the place is no ordinary boutique, it’s 10,000 square feet of Charlie Chaplin’s old dance studio. What’s coolest about the space is that it’s so big that each designer basically gets their own space within the store and the customer can move from room to room checking out each designer. Alexander Wang got his own room, as to Band of Outsiders, there is a particular lego-style corner showcasing some exclusive pieces on the second floor too. You just have to check it out if you’re staying in LA, even more if your hotel is in West Hollywood. Link

After a long walk around Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, we headed to the Japanese fusion food restaurant Yu N Mi on Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills. We didn’t go there randomly for this place had been recommended by a friend who used to go there sometimes twice a day ! The place is tiny but the rolls are gigantic. The team is nice, charming and pretty quick ! Check out some of the plates we ordered below to judge by yourself !
