Introducing Casely-Hayford FW 2011 “Day One” Collection

Father/son design duo Casely-Hayford  is all about the richness of classic british tailoring mixed and matched with modern detailing, giving the garments a subtle contemporary edge. I call it hip classicism, which is quite a contradiction. You can feel both the influence of street cultures and the influence of a more privileged stratum of brit society, mansions, gentlemen clubs, know-how and elegance. Casely-hayford has crafted such a varied yet coherent collection that everyone can fit in and play with an urban or dressed-up orientation. Shown here are the looks from a Dazed and Confused editorial that in my opinion shares our own editorial line of sartorial rules scratched with the urban attitude. Read the rest of this entry »

GANT Rugger Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook

Well in advance of it’s release, GANT Rugger gives us a look at their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. As usual for the Rugger line, the collection will include a classy range of apparel including blazers, button-downn oxford shirts, shorts, chinos, denim and a crop of outerwear jackets. The only trendy addition is the pair of brown suede dubble monks. The whole collection ca be effortlessly mixed because of the pastel shades of Spring match easily the traditional menswear colors like blue, khaki, olive green and gray. The collection makes it almost too easy for you to be dressed-up. It’s not a bad point. Besides, our french readers can now get some pieces since GANT Rugger is now featured on Mr Porter’s online store ! Read the rest of this entry »

Pigalle x Colette x MERRELL WILDERNESS

We met the guys from Parisian hip store Pigalle at last (Capsule) show in Paris and I remember how interesting their offering was as they were launching a line of hats. Instantly I knew they had talent. And this video teasing their recent collaboration with Colette store and hiking boots experts Merrell on the Wilderness shoe model confirms my first impression ! The video is actually a making-of of their lookbook photographed by Mathias Fennetaux in the streets of Paris.

Introducing Memento Clothing

I still don’t know a lot of things from new-born French fashion label Memento Clothing. But I know two things that I really like : first of all, they quote Theophilus London (« The Clothes don’t make the man, it’s the man that makes the clothes ») and secondly, Memento’s art director is no one else than Benjamin Memmi, Sandro’s former AD ! And God knows how much I’ve spent in Sandro pieces over the last few years. I was wearing one of their grey blazers yesterday ! From what I can see, the FW 2011 looks great BUT I kind of hate the finger rings on the model. It’s useless to me. My next stop in Paris will include a stop at Memento’s flagship store 12 rue Mandar 75002 Paris. Before you do too, check out their lookbook after the gap ! Read the rest of this entry »

Mark McNairy New Amsterdam Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook

The undeniably rising American designer Mark McNairy has been feeding the news feeds of the blogosphere for weeks now with teasers of the New Amsterdam Spring/Summer 2012 collection. People are really obsessed with his original shoes and now with the clothes that come with. It’s American classic menswear completely revisited with a new and very personal twist. The prints are more than unconventional : zebra, camo with flowers, pop-leo and smileys all give a youthful reinterpretation to american classics : that’s McNairy‘s signature ! Introducing Isaia Fall/Winter 2011 | Neapolitan Sartorial Tradition

Isaia is born in the 50s in Napoli, Italy, and has since always conveyed the italian sartorial tradition at its best. The Isaia man “loves to love, loves to be noticed and isn’t afraid to stand out”. He’s stylish and his style says he gives a damn. He’s self-confident and convincing. He’s almost arrogant. The Isaia guy wears double-breasted jackets and all sorts of Scottish-like checks. And he suits up to go fishing. Full FW 2011 lookbook after the gap ! Read the rest of this entry »

Gant Rugger x Close Up and Private Fall/Winter 2011

I heard the new Gant Rugger collection is out so I look on the internet (since there is no Gant shop in France that sells this rather premium line) and I find this interesting collaboration with Ivy enthusiast Sergei Sviatchenko from Close Up and Private. Gant is well known for their American Ivy and European classics garments so I believe the collaboration totally makes sense. It’s not the first time I notice the photos of Mr Sviatchenko as they come out quite frequently on Tumblr. He manages to highlight some of brand’s new items like no other lookbook could ; terrific grey blazer with gold buttons, nice coloured fair isle sweaters, chinos, repp ties, COBD shirts make the collection really inspiring ! Check it out after the break ! Read the rest of this entry »

Maje Fall Winter 2011 Lookbook

While thinking about what could be a hip office outfit for you ladies, I realized it’s as simple as this lookbook from french label Maje for FW 2011 ! It’s all navy blue and red and it’s absolutely sexy ! The whole collection has a strong identity that mixes classic pieces and hip details everywhere ! Leopard, black boots or pumps, leather patches and leggings make the perfect outfits for the office girls who give a damn ! I strongly advise you to take this at least as an inspiration, and I don’t care it’s too sexy or skirts/dresses are too short ! Full FW 2011 lookbook after the break !
