Japan’s insatiable hunger for luxury goods has incentivized the designer world to whip out only the best for its customers in the Land of the Rising Sun. Take Maison Martin Margiela, for example. The Belgian fashion line has teamed up with Globe-trotter (maker of Queen Elizabeth II’s honeymoon suitcase) to create a timeless luggage collection in two colorways: black and white, and sepia. Although no official images have been released, the items are said to be handmade, covered with Maison Martin Margiela‘s emblematic trompe-l’œil concept print, and reminiscent of Globetrotter‘s 1920s – 1950s style. If you want them, but aren’t in Japan, too bad. The collection will be exclusively available at Margiela’s Isetan Shinjuku store in Tokyo come December 2013. Via Freshness

Globe Trotter x 10 Corso Como:

The connoisseurs may have noticed our Globe Trotter luggage as the link to our “Essentials“. No need to say that we particularly admire the emblematic British know-how in the manufacturing of Globe Trotter‘s high-end sets of luggages.

This set of Globe Trotter luggages produced in collaboration with the Italian concept store, 10 Corso Como, is amazingly well-finished: constructed from Vulcan fibre, the whole set presents twinkling steel deadlocks and black leather straps! As usual with Globe Trotter‘s products, we appreciate the retro-style and the firmness of the latter!

My (still potential) internship approaching, I start thinking like a grown-up again and want to find a nice attache-case like the original Samsonite they used to carry in the sixties. I mean, I don’t want to carry a reinforced backpack with tons of pockets and elastic straps all over it. I want to look as dapper as Don Draper and as “sharky” as Mick Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer. So the options left are the neat attache-case inspired by old-school Samsonite briecases like the one above. Thom Browne released a perfect special edition for the centenary of Samsonite but it is unfortunately not on sale anymore. Still, you can find other options like the one hereafter !
