Hype Means Everything

givenchy-camouflage-print-hooded-parka-6

Who said camo prints are dead? Who said parkas are dead? I know summer is supposed to come soon now, I know Givenchy only makes over-hyped over-priced items. Still, I’d love to get a hold on this camouflage-printed parka jacket. For the casual rainy days you know. For when you want to say “fuck the rain I’ve got my Givenchy parka“… (shop)

g.kero-printed-shirts-5

Looking for for a fresh alternative to traditional gallery canvases, artist Marguerite Bartherotte turned to fashion. So instead of canvas or paper, she paints on t-shirts. You might think okay, nothing new under the sun except the prints are original creations by the artist and the shirt is used as a canvas, meaning it’s a real support for art before it’s considered a piece of clothing. Plus the model for the SS2014 lookbook is super cute. Look for the collection online and at selected retail stores!

1000tattoos-book-2014-04-630x438

Taschen always finds a way to publish affordable, greatly curated art books. The most recent one to stand out is “1000 Tattoos, an exploration of tattoos past and present”. With enough pictures to feed your imagination and satisfy your curiosity, should you be into elaborate dragons ar minimalist abstract shapes… Bringing together the vast knowledge of art historian and Berlin gallerist Burkhard Riemschneider and ink superstar Henk Schiffmacher, 1000 Tattoos is a deep collection of wearable art from the 1920s circus ladies to modern bikers. It’s actually as fun to go through as getting a tattoo, but it’s less definitive…

eclectic-restaurant-paris-beaugrenelle-5

Fabienne and Philippe Amzalak, have teamed up with Tom Dixon‘s design studio to create a “concept-restaurant” in the modern Beaugrenelle mall in Paris. Inspired by the 1970s but built as a typical Parisian brasserie, Eclectic somehow manages to be both futuristic and completely retro at the same time. The browny tables and couches and seats along with the soft orange light beaming from the massive lamps create a pretty neat atmosphere. Now I just have to go and see for myself if Fabienne and Philippe Amzalak still live up to their reputation!

maserati1

Sometimes, I’m glad I can’t afford to buy myself a ride. ‘Cause if I did, I’d end up with this furious-looking Maserati Alfieri. Yes, I know, it is still a concept car. Never mind. Like I said at the beginning, I can’t afford that 4.7 liter V8 that pushes out 460 horsepower anyway. Keep calm and save some money.

lagavulin-16-single-malt-whisky-4

With its aged gold and rich amber colour, the Lagavulin 16 year old is one of the classic single malts available over the counter today. You just can’t dislike the smoky finish reminiscent of a Johnnie Walker Blue Label or a Caol Ila Moch.  The peat and salty aromas are married to perfection and make a single sip a one-way trip to Islay in Scotland. The easiest way to get yourself a similar treat is to pay a visit to my favourite destination for online spirit shopping Alexander & James. I love how the bottle is packed and that the service is simply perfect. Plus the choice and variety of whiskies available on their website is something surrealist. Check for yourself!
