NEWS IN WATCHES
Tank Louis Cartier XL Slimline | Watch Alert
The Cartier Tank is already a huge favourite but I always felt like it was a bit small. The watch is an icon which has be worn for example by Muhammed Ali for many years. This year, Cartier introduces an entirely new case design for the Tank as well as a new model within the Louis Cartier family, the Louis Cartier Tank XL Slimline. That means you get a bigger watch but since it is slimer, you don’t lose any of its refinement and classy spirit. The original Tank Louis Cartier line was introduced in 1922 as “the ultimate watchmaker’s manifesto of elegance and timelessness.” For this new slimline, they put in Piaget’s fantastic 430 ultra-thin hand-wound movement. The Tank Louis Cartlier XL Slimline is available in pink gold on a brown alligator strap and is now the slimmest watch in the Cartier collection. The watch is supremely elegant, and perfectly executed. A $14,200 dream. Read the rest of this entry »

Swatch Touch Collection
Swiss fashion brand Swatch presents Swatch Touch 2011, a colorful new collection of trend-setting timekeepers with big-screen LCD dials and a touch-sensitive zone in place of pushbuttons. Paradoxically enough, the biggest numerals on the Swatch Touch 2011 screen are by far the seconds: animated like the seconds hand on an analog watch. They are constantly changing, alive, giving rhythm and a pulse to life in the digital age. They are, in fact, the “heart” of the watch. You can get yours by clicking here! Introducing Cartier Ballon Bleu iD One
Cartier Ballon Bleu iD One:
Last week we looked back and presented the classic Cartier Tank Grand Model. Now, we look in the future bringing up this amazing concept watch by Cartier : the Ballon Bleu ID One. You can instantly think this watch is just a photoshopped version of the regular Ballon Bleu. Yet, the darkened case, darkened movement and a trimmed rotor are just the beginning of the story behind this timepiece.
For the “ID One” concept, Cartier used a self-winding movement, featuring a blade style trimmed rotor (which offers an amazing, less obstructed view of the movement, than a traditional rotor design. Plus, the most important element, though, chronometrically speaking, is the Spiral Zerodur®hairspring, it requires zero regulation!! As a matter of fact, a watch like the Ballon Bleu ID One, represents Cartier’s dedication and seriousness towards watchmaking, and will surely have a positive halo effect on the brand! See the video of its caliber (9452 MC) after the break. Read the rest of this entry »
Louis Cartier Tank Grand Model
It is a personal favourite. Created in 1917 (first offered for sale in 1922) the Tank Louis Cartier watch ranks as a legend among wristwatches and not only because of its rich history. It was the model that Louis Cartier himself invariably chose to give to his closest friends and confidants. Owing to its technical excellence and ironically timeless look, the watch continues to fascinate connoisseurs today. The typical HME watch ! Read the rest of this entry »
Glashütte Senator Navigator Perpetual Calendar
Remember Baselword 2009 ? This piece of art was one of my favorite watches presented at that event. This watch just rocks!! Swiss watchmaker Glashütte designed a watch you can carry both with a pilot suit and with a casual polo. This high-flying timepiece soars with a robust 44 mm stainless steel case in typical pilot’s watch look, sporting a traditional matt black dial with large Arabic numerals and line markers for the minute and second displays as well as blued hour and minute hands. A soft, used-look calfskin strap with stainless steel buckle provides the perfect finish to the pilot look of the Senator Navigator Perpetual Calendar. Read the rest of this entry »
