NEWS IN UPPER SHOES
It’s certainly not your everyday pair of shoes or the pair you pick for a job interview but you’ll have to admit that this plain white version of the Church’s Consul is unbelievably hot ! For a pair that must be the most classic choice of all times, the best-seller through generations, I find this version a very good alternative. Okay you’ll probably have comments from obscure people arguing and trying to convince you that this is your most unfortunate purchase but, proud of you, you’ll challenge the conventional black dress shoes and this is what we call style ! These Consul look totally fresh in white with natural sole and heel edges. More shoe porn after the break !
I don’t even know where to start with these Repettos ! First of all, there is a model for both dudes and girls. Secondly, they are flat oxford in black or white (or brown since 2010) leather from the designer’s ‘Mythique’ collection. The toe is rounded, the sole is of leather except for the heel and each pair is hand-made in France. The most famous addict is Serge Gainsbourg who supposedly used 30 pairs a year just because he loved going everywhere sockless with them and feel the fine leather. I got mine and I consider buying another pair in a different color. That shows how much I love them. Available at local shops, Rue de la Paix for the Parisian readers. Read the rest of this entry »
We may characterize them as the first actual Shoe Porn for men… yet, I love them !! Just found them on Oki-ni online store.
Indeed, Martin Margiela is gifted… It’s been a while I have not seen such a perfect pair of shoes with this amazing brown color !! I can already tell you that this color will match with any of your pair of jeans!!

In my (still) short life, I’ve already made plenty of investments. Including clothing investments. But from my personnal experience, I can tell for sure that shoes have to be an investment. How many times have I seen plastic fake-leather trying to look like leather? How many times have I bought shoes that couldn’t survive more than a season? This time is over my friends. It’s high time to invest. You’ll be surprised how rentable it is… Read the rest of this entry »
The Saint Crépin 2010 model by John Lobb is the embodiement of THE modern monk shoes!
Elegant and flawless, this pair of shoes meets with perfection !! No more comment needed, just enjoy this artwork…
NB: I voluntarily use the term “artwork” because it is worth an actual piece of art !!
Desert boots are back on top and it seems Common Projects has the ones to get ! The upper is made of rough suede and the thick sole inspires confidence so this pair is not another overpriced pair you won’t be able as soon as it rains/snows or windy or sunny or… This should be perfect for this fall/winter and even for spring with cuffed trousers. Made in Italy. I tried them and my usual size was surprisingly big so I recommend to to pick a pair down one size. 250€, the easiest way to get some is their own online store : http://www.commonprojects.com/
There’s a universal rule with shoes which is that you’d better spend more on fewer pairs and you’ll definitely look better. However it has become a challenge to comply with this rule since one man decided to start his own line of shoes. This man only needed two years to come and challenge the traditional shoe establishment, namely the Church, Crockett & Jones, Lobb, J.M. Weston and company. He says he’s “just a man with a passion for shoes who feels let down by a shoe industry that doesn’t really seem to care”. I believe he’s the Hattori Hanzo of shoes and I want all his creations. He’s called Marc Hare and this is his interview!
This is it ! The number one shoe every man on earth respecting his feet should have. This particular J. Press model has my preference. I believe this is because of the delightful ivy wood calf which is the key for such shoes. Some turn orange, some are too glossy. Actually, very few creators have found a credible brown colour. Church’s has. J. Press has. Besides, I truly prefer the punched toe cap over the plain one. The pair easily suits all formal pants, jeans or blue chinos. So yes it is a must-have. In a period of all-american fashion, it is useless to say that a touch of anything else has to be a sure choice. If you are missing a great pair of dress shoe or, like me, want a pair that instantly says “I am not the kind of casual friday man”, the monk shoe will be your easy pick. Prefer the double buckle for a more effective effect. Ralph Lauren makes… Read the rest of this entry »
