Eventually he was hired as a ”layetier”, a kind of manservant who woud pack your trunks. He must have done his duties really well, because he caught the attention of Napoleon III who hired the young frenchman to be Empress Eugénie personal ”layetier”. The young Frenchman’s name was Louis Vuitton and in 1854 he opened his own trunk-making firm in Paris. By 1913, the Louis Vuitton flagship on Champs-Elysées was the largerst store for travel-goods in the world!  Read the rest of this entry »

DONDA’s Creative Director and Co-Owner of RSVP Gallery, Virgil Abloh looks like the man to follow closely. He’s a Chicago native and Kanye West’s longtime personal Art Director. You understand he’s the guy responsible for this street-couture movement that mixes luxury fashion (Givenchy, Alexander Wand, Chanel…) with traditional hip-hop ornaments. We’d spotted Kanye and ASAP Mob members wearing some of Abloh’s Pyrex clothing back in may but missed the train. We won’t miss it twice though as we have the link and looks from the latest Pyrex Vision offerings !! SHOP at RSVP Gallery right now !! Read the rest of this entry »

Introducing Zoo York

Zoo York is an East Coast minded clothing and skating label with strong influences by graffiti, hip-hop, punk, and everything in between. The Manhattan-based brand stores a wide range of casual, utilitarian looks for men and women that melt military tones with iconic Zoo York City imagery. The company takes its legitimacy from the Zoo Crew, which includes original NYC graffiti artists, designers, musicians, BMX riders, and some of the biggest names in the skateboard community. The Soul Artists of Zoo York sprang to life from Manhattan’s Riverside Park in the early 70s and built a booming scene with aerosol, skateboards, block rockin’ beats, and a defining originality. The term Zoo York eventually symbolized NYC’s underground sect of artists, b-boys, skateboarders, punks, and their various creative off-shoots. In 1993, OG skateboarders Rodney Smith, Eli Gessner and Adam Schatz teamed up to found the East Coast’s first true skateboarding-inspired lifestyle brand – Zoo York. The trio siphoned creative inspiration from NYC’s rapidly evolving skateboarding, hip-hop, and graffiti scenes to produce a variety of culturally relevant products that were dark and gritty like New York City. What started off as a simple line of decks and T-shirts steadily grew into a complete streetwear collection marked by military surplus, urban-athletic styling that was designed to withstand the city’s rugged terrain.
