Curated by designer Yuske Kamiya in 2010, Mookee By Yuske is a hybrid of streetwear and high fashion for those who cannot afford the brands with four digit price tags. Residing in Long Beach, California, He believes although many of his people in town cannot afford the high end prices, they can still accumulate a wonderful sense of style through his line, Mookee by Yuske. Inspired by art, music, and vintage culture, he integrates all aspects of inspiration into his line creating many pieces for those who share the same interests.

Feeling for a touch of mafia style or maybe just surfing on the recent Pharrell hat buzz. Or maybe I’ve just been jealous of the girls I’ve seen proudly wearing their dark large hats in the streets lately. Whatever this comes from, I’d love a nice Borsalino hat for the days I have to torture some good old gangsters.

On my way to the new JM Weston store the other day, I ran by this new boutique called Ex Nihilo. The tagline says “Ex Nihilo is an alternative Parisian perfume house that designs personalized luxury fragrances and promotes emerging creative talents.” Being rather annoyed by mainstream over-the-counter perfumes and other eaux de toilette, I welcome this original Parisian concept store and its obsession with French-Savoir Faire and the bespoke universe. Ex Nihilo will propose you a fully personalized fragrance experience through its newly opened Parisian store located 352, Rue Saint Honoré Paris.

On a very a cold day a few weeks ago, I had a lot of fun doing this modest shooting for well know sneaker brand Onitsuka Tiger. Despite the freezing wind, I was pretty happy to exchange my worn-out loafers for a fresh pair of bouncy sneakers and pose, walk, run, jump and sometimes seat to feature those burgundy Shaw Runner. After the shoot was over, I kept the sneakers on until I had to go to bed. Soles don’t lie! So comfy and pretty good looking! I guess my Reeboks and Nikes and Vans have to be worried for they’re going to spend a lot more time piled up in my closet…

Just when my Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is running low, I realise there’s a new baby in the Tom Ford Private Blend collection. Tobacco Oud is Tom Ford’s latest take on a masculine eau de parfum with dirty, ashy, smoky scents. Although I’d have a hard time dismissing my current Tobacco Vanille, I love how frank and however pretty unclear this scent is. I couldn’t put it better than a US guy who reviewed the scent: “Masculine as heck, like I just hid some freshly wrapped cigars in my well-worn flannel shirt after toasting a visiting neighbor with some well-hidden stash of whisky in my garage (don’t tell the wife) after chopping some wood for my fireplace.” Or put it funnier than this… passionate Youtuber:

SECOND/LAYER presents its Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook in anticipation of the upcoming season. The latest release from the brand is basically focused on remaining simple, elegant and gender-neutral with the use of relaxed silhouettes and its black, white and navy color palette. We had the chance to check out the quality of their products at their showroom last week during the Fashion Week in Paris. Definitely worth keeping an eye on that young brand…

Japan’s insatiable hunger for luxury goods has incentivized the designer world to whip out only the best for its customers in the Land of the Rising Sun. Take Maison Martin Margiela, for example. The Belgian fashion line has teamed up with Globe-trotter (maker of Queen Elizabeth II’s honeymoon suitcase) to create a timeless luggage collection in two colorways: black and white, and sepia. Although no official images have been released, the items are said to be handmade, covered with Maison Martin Margiela‘s emblematic trompe-l’œil concept print, and reminiscent of Globetrotter‘s 1920s – 1950s style. If you want them, but aren’t in Japan, too bad. The collection will be exclusively available at Margiela’s Isetan Shinjuku store in Tokyo come December 2013. Via Freshness
