Saturday Night Dinner | Le Kong, Paris
Le Kong (1st District Paris): one of the best restaurants to celebrate something or just have dinner with a date!
Last week, we talked up about Le Thiou and you seemed to have enjoyed the post and the place so we’ve decided to keep up publishing trendy Saturday night places…
As you may have noticed, we’ve kept the same gastronomic influences with the Kong : the cuisine at the Kong is basically composed of French food cooked by French chef Richard Pommiès, and revisited by young Japanese chef Fumiko Kono. Located on the last level of the Kenzo tower (an Haussmann-style building), the Kong was actually designed by Philippe Starck and Laurent Taïeb to “embody the lasting struggle between the moderns and the classics, between the iconic geisha and the modern Kawaï”.
What we particularly appreciate is that the whole roof has been replaced by glass, giving an amazing view on the surrounding buildings and the Seine which is just a few meters away! Plus the Kong bar is one the ravest bars in town right now: so feel free to grab a cocktail before leaving the Kenzo tower. This is kitsch, this is hype, this is good!
We highly recommend their Chateaubriand steak with some tasty Kong-style French fries! Read the rest of this entry »
St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London
Last month, the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel has reopened. London’s heritage-hotel revival has eventually happened. It took 12 years for Marriott to restore the Victorian masterpiece. Throughout the century it was twice bombed and left to decay, poorly used in the 1960s as an office space and threatened with demolition in the 80s. This London 5-star hotel now features his old-time glorious gothic metalwork, gold leaf ceilings, hand-stenciled wall designs and the grand staircase, all beeing as dazzling as the day Queen Victoria opened the hotel in 1873. The design studio Manhattan Loft Corporation and Marriott have made it to keep the historical touch, which is the most important. To me, this is the most wonderful hotel that has ever opened, the precise type of hotel I’ve always been willing to go to, with that cosy lounge feel and majestic titanesque palace. Saturday night dinner | Le Thiou, Paris
A NEW CATEGORY on Hype Means Everything! You definitely love our sunday girls; yet, the thing is you’ll have to invite them out for dinner the night before, otherwise they won’t become your sunday girls!!
Hype Means Everything does the selection of hotspots for you: every saturday, we recommend you a nice, cosy and hype SATURDAY NIGHT DINNER place to have dinner!
The first Saturday Night Dinner place is the Thiou (click to see the info). Named after the chef’s family name, the Thiou is actually composed of 3 different venues in Paris: Le Thiou (7th district), Le Petit Thiou (7th district) and Le Comptoir du Thiou (8th district). Each of these venues offers more or less the same menu to its trendy clientele: in other words some classic and delicious thaï food mixed with some classics of the French cuisine.
To me, the Thiou is the one of the best French-style Asian gastronomy in Paris. I personally recommend the scampi mini-spring rolls (on the pic above) as an appetizer, then the Thiou‘s speciality, the Steak crying tiger with some sticky rice… Yummy!!

Café in Louis Vuitton’s flagships | To be unveiled soon
There will be cafés in several Louis Vuitton flagships:
Cafés in Louis Vuitton’s giant stores!!! How do you feel about that ? Well, this is only about rumors for now but this project will supposedly soon be unveiled! This is a real scoop, and, once again, HME is your “hypesider guy”…
The idea of setting up Cafés in Louis Vuitton’s largest flagships all around the world is hardly surprising: Louis Vuitton has always wanted its flagships to be a sort of promenade. Indeed, the famous French luxury brand, Louis Vuitton, takes root in the idea of travelling and these future Cafés will only be an additional step on the trip in Louis Vuitton world! So, guys, you will soon have a place to stay as your partner does her shopping: the Louis Vuitton Café… Can’t wait!!
Apart from big department stores, the project of launching Cafés in a luxury store already exists. For instance, if you visit to the Chanel boutique on Rue Cambon in Paris, you will notice a special room designed especially for business men or women to watch financial channels on a TV as they do their shopping…
A few days ago, I presented Le Beige, situated on the roof top of Chanel’s flagship in Tokyo. The moral of the story is that luxury brands are taking innovative measures to transport you in a luxury world and make you stay around (The Pool by Hermès, Chanel’s restaurant, Louis Vuitton Café) and will keep on doing so!

Ladurée Le Macaron Strawberry Mint
This post because nobody can resist a macaron from Ladurée, especially their summer special strawberry mint “with the delicious taste of strawberry which gradually awakens as if by surprise in a burst of intense freshness while the unexpected icy mint suddenly appears”.
