Patty & Bun | Best Burgers in London
Get off the tube at Bond Street station, go up on James Street until you see a queue in front of a small restaurant: that should be it, number 54: Patty&Bun, the tastiest burger in London to me. The first question that comes to mind then is: am I supposed to queue 30 to 45 minutes to get a burger? To that question, I can now answer: “Yes Sir!”. If you live in London or you’re just spending a weekend there, Patty&Bun is a must-go: the French fries are AMAZING (one of the best I’ve ever had actually), the chicken wings are breathtaking and obviously the burgers are just delicious (I recommend the Smokey Robinson)!! By the way, you can also avoid the queue by taking it away (here). Read the rest of this entry »
White 1921 Hotel and Bar in Saint-Tropez
I’ve walked many times by the White 1921 hotel in Saint-Tropez but I never dared to set foot past its tall white doors. The immaculate hotel located on the mythical place de Lices offers eight rooms and suites as well as a terrasse lounge bar designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte. The glass back-lit bar looks pretty amazing and boasts some very exclusive cocktails. Provided you spared a few bucks during the year, there’s a full cellar of superior champagnes that can be tasted by the glass! A limited number of Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Collection 1921 bottles, the year the mansion was built, is also available for purchase. However, if, for any possible reason, you feel a bit reasonable, you can stick to the fresh-made tapas or the famous tarte tropézienne. Read the rest of this entry »
Monsieur Bleu Restaurant at Palais de Tokyo
A wonderful terrasse with view on the Eiffel Tower, a high-ceiling Art Deco dinning room designed by Joseph Dirand (who happens to be the same dude who designed the Chloé store rue Saint-Honoré), black marble, green suede chairs. Everything’s splendid. I haven’t tried Monsieur Bleu yet but I feel like you go there to see and be seen rather than for the food itself. Or maybe I’m mistaken… It’s simply refreshing to see that the Palais de Tokyo has found a new life. Let’s hope this brasserie chic doesn’t disappoint us when we go for a check anytime soon. Prince de Galles Hotel is Now Open
After two years of heavy face-lifting, the Parisian hotel Prince de Galles has now re-opened. We were invited to check for ourselves how magnifiscent, luxurious and enchanting the hotel has become again. We’ve seen many hotels already, tried many (many) hotel bars and patios and terrasses, but I can tell you 100% honestly that I’ve yet to find a place that makes a greater impression than the Prince de Galles. The monumental lobby entrance, the quiet and cosy bar, the amazing patio are all of exquisite taste and designed with the most meticulous attention to detail. For the re-opening, we were handed Lomo cameras and were given all access so as to give you a full report. Check out all our photos after the break and make sure you go and visit the place before everyone else!
L’Atelier des Artistes Opening in Paris
Carlsberg invited us a few days ago to have us discover L’Atelier des Artistes near République in Paris. The place is a restaurant, lounge, bar and even has a screening room and a private “Danish suite”. L’atelier des Artistes is a complex yet successful combination of modern art, gastronomy and nordic inspiration. The venue is actually pretty big: the restaurant on the ground floor, which we have yet to try, looks very promising. Downstairs, we loved all the design furniture and whole atmosphere of the bar. I invite you to go check it out by yourself! Read the rest of this entry »
Nanchang Chinese Restaurant in Paris
Nanchang is the latest Chinese canteen that has opened in Paris. If you fancy some soup, fried shrimps, grilled caramel porc and the likes with Mao staring at you when you drink that hot sake, then this is the place to be. It is cheap as you’d expect. But it’s really good. And fun. And weird.
Busaba Eathai in London | Gimme Some Curry
On a brief stop in London last week, I took the time to sit at Busaba Eathai like I do everytime I go to London. And again, I simply loved it. The rather dark, woody, candled restaurant near Berkeley Square is just what you need from a good Thai restaurant. And then the food itself is super good. As usual I took a very spicy curry duck with sticky rice while my homie took some sort of wok with chicken. Tasty to the eye ! So if you finf yourself in London, I advise you to try the place out !!
