MAISON MICHEL LOOKBOOK SS2011 (SHOT BY KARL LAGERFELD)

A great deal of humor, a dose of inspiration, some colors and as always, crazy elegance, come together to define the 2011 Spring-Summer collection of the historical Parisian house, Maison Michel. After the astonishing collaboration with Opening Ceremony (here), talented and funky Maison Michel’s art director, Laeticia Crahay, surprises us!

Maison Michel SS2011 collection is both refined and quirky, and this is exactly what I admire. Especially when Karl Lagerfeld is the shooting photographer and the models are actual celebrities (Lou Doillon, Anja Rubik, Nicole Trunfio, etc…): indeed Karl Lagerfeld let his Hasselblad camera work wonders on the a selection of the most beautiful models in the world.

Now I let you judge about the results but what should we expect ? The most refined French hats worn by the prettiest models and shot by one of the most talented fashion designers in the world… I tell you, it is an impressing aesthetic success!! Read the rest of this entry »

REPETTO X OPENING CEREMONY : THE PONY BALLERINA

Once again, we found an amazing collaboration not to be missed… This time, it is an exclusive, two-style collaboration between the historical parisian house Repetto and the successful American flagship Opening Ceremony.

The two houses successfully created a cowboy yet cultivé version of this best-seller ballerina. The shape remains a classic Repetto flat though. Inspired by a mythical pair of leopard Repetto flats, it seems that they both needed to revive it, they created the Pony Ballerina, an iconic ballet flat in 3 very oc varieties of animal-print pony hair (leopard, zebra and giraffe). MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA x CUTLER & GROSS LINE 8 SUNGLASSES

London-based Cutler & Gross teams up with Maison Martin Margiela  to produce two collections of handmade frames : Anatomic with large, enveloping shapes and Wrong Size with purposely misfitting lenses. While Martin Margiela’s values are tradition, pragmatism and pure craftmanship, Cutler & Gross rather plays with anticonformism, sharp design, originality and British Flair. The result of this union is the “line 8″, a line that gathers irreverential design, hand-made quality and the tradition of mistery. Materials are acetate or tortoise and prices are between 375 and 450 €. That’s how we like collabs ! Looks hereafter. Read the rest of this entry »
