MINIMALISM AND FASHION WRITTEN BY ELYSSA DIMANT
As I was strolling in Colette store on Rue Saint Honoré two weeks ago, I bumped into this book: Minimalism and Fashion: Reduction in the Postmodern Era written by Elyssa Dimant. This book is a groundbreaking, provocative exploration of the influence of minimalist art and minimalist design on the fashion industry from the 1960s to the present. Indeed, I was quite amazed by her work, the pics she chose and her view on this movement and its effect on fashion!

PHOTOGRAPHS INSPIRED BY RAP MUSIC BY PAUL LABONTÉ
Paul Labonté chose rap music as the subject for his fourth publication, “Photographs inspired by the rap music that once inspired me”. Photos from an exhibition that the artist showcased in 2008 are now gathered and published in this book. From the few pages I can see, I believe this book is amazing. Shots are really representative of the gangsta 90s in the US. Maybe they are too much and turn caricatural sometimes but still, shots are great. In the hereunder video interview, Labonte explains the choice to shoot scenes which faithfully portray those elements found in raps which he was most inspired by. Check the video interview and some shots after the break! Read the rest of this entry »
